Job title & role description:

The Bank is currently looking to recruit an Officer, a clerical role on a full-time basis (Monday to Friday – 08:00 to 17:00 hrs), with an indefinite contract at employment at the Bank’s main office – Operations Department, situated at Level 20, Portomaso Business Tower, St. Julians.

The role within the Operations Department will support the Bank’s Trade Services Operations function, handling day-to-day processing of payments and trade finance transactions, including documentary letters of credit, documentary collections and guarantees. The Officer will ensure accurate execution and timely follow-up of transactions, liaising with clients and correspondent banks where required, and performing all activities in line with internal policies and procedures, applicable regulations and international rules and standard market practice.

Main responsibilities:

  • Processing of incoming and outgoing payments in accordance with the established procedure;
  • Liaises with correspondent banks and clients on any issues related to payments;
  • Assisting on all work related to documentary collections, letters of credit and bank guarantees and ensuring it is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures;
  • Follows internal and external publications regarding developments related to trade finance business.

Skills & qualifications required:

  • Diploma in Banking and Finance or a relevant qualification (MQF Level 4) is considered an asset;
  • Previous banking experience or experience in a similar role will also be considered an asset;
  • Analytical with attention to detail;
  • The capability of working effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision;
  • Good problem-solving skills;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • Strong Time Management and ability to meet deadlines;
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Positive attitude vis-à-vis the work, challenges and non-routine tasks.
  • Experience using software packages such as MS Office.
  • Maltese speaking is considered an asset.
